Question of the Day: What is an event? How can events be signaled? Describe IN YOUR OWN WORDS how sprites use events to communicate. How are events like Social Networking?

An event is something that sends a message to one thread to another. Events can be signaled by putting a when command on top of it. So  the scratch sends a message to that command on when to start or to do a certain task. Events are similar to social networking because we get the chance to send messages to one another telling each other what to do or whats going on.

Question of the Day: What is a thread? What happens when you use multiple threads? What label begins a thread in Scratch? Why do you think you should use separate threads?

a thread is like a mini-program within a program that can execute at the same time as other threads.A program with multiple threads, then, can do multiple things at once. The when command starts a thread in scratch. You should separate it when you want you sprite to do something at one time.

What are some of the problems that you face as teenager as a result of Social Networking? This would include using social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter, Instant Messaging, SMS and or Text Messaging. How does interacting 24/7 affect the way you think and communicate? Does social media affect your school work in a positive or negative way? Do you agree or disagree with the author of this article that Social Networking affects both your writing skills and social manners? What do you think? Make sure to defend your position.

Some of the problems that we face as a teenager on a social network is the fact that we spend most of our time on it than any other thing in life. We tend to spend more time on Facebook, Twitter, and any other website than we do on our homework. It also affects the way that we communicate with people because of all the abbreviations that we use. It is causing a problem that no one can really solve. Some people can't go without having their phone or computer in their life. I connects them to the world around them and it get them to know the latest scoop.

While using the computer we may forget how to communicate with someone in a proper way because of the abbreviations that we use. It may be hard and take a while to type in a correct proper manner. Sometimes it do happen to people who are writing essays for school and they put in a texting form of writing in their essays. Social media affects our school work in a negative way because students may not be able to get their work done with Facebook or any other website sitting right in front of their face. Its like it hypnotizes you to be on it and find out everything and talk to who you want.

I agree with the author that social networking affects both your writing skills and social manners because it truly does. People may not realize it but it is. Its causing a major problem that is affecting us in school and in our daily social life. I think that maybe people should start spending a little bit more time with their family and friends. Students need to concentrate more on their school work and stay more focused in class. People should be able to cut back on the internet usage not saying that you have to completely drop it from your social life but just put it to the side every once in a while. Maybe if every one do that then maybe the social network won't affect us as much as it is doing now.

Question of the Day: Read: Variables What is a variable? How are variable represented in Scratch? What are the two types of variables and how can they be used? What is a Boolean variable?

A variable is a placeholder for some value, much like x and y are popular variables in algebra. In Scratch, variables are represented with blocks shaped like elongated circles, uniquely labeled by you. Variables, generally speaking, can be local or global. In Scratch, a local variable can be used by just one sprite; a global variable can be used by all of your sprites.

Question of the Day: Read: Conditions - What is a condition? What are some statements of a conditional construct? What happens when you use the if construct? What happens when a construct is nested

A condition is something that must be true in order for something to happen. In Scratch, any block whose label says "if," "when," or "until" is a sort of conditional construct. When you use the if construct it can instruct a sprite to say hello.
